Cats & Dogs

Shirt - J. Crew
Skirt - Theory
Belt - Forever 21
Black Tights - DKNY via Marshall's
Earrings - Anthropologie
Necklace - World Market

After a solid 24 hours of rain - I gave up on trying to take my pictures outside.
I have to say though, this outfit was really comfortable!  And I really like the
combination of black, blue and tan.  I felt dressed up and casual at the same time.
Can you believe tomorrow is December 1st?  I am mildly freaking out.

10 & 11

Dress - Old Navy
Tights - DKNY via Marshall's
Knee Socks - Target
Sunglasses - Ray Ban Aviators

Sweater Dress - Shop in London
Tights - Target
Necklace - Target (I think?)

Between traveling and being sick last week these were the only two outfits for
the 30 for 30 that I actually documented. Even thought I wore only 30 for 30
items, I think I did y'all a favor not having to see my sick face photographed.
It would have probably made your eyes burn.  I looked beyond rough.

Anyway, on to the outfits...The first one I wore to my grandparents home in
South Georgia.  And we went to the auction!  There's a great antique auction
house right by their home where they hold auctions each month.  More to come
on the purchase I made (yes, only one purchase)...I can't wait to show y'all! :)

The second outfit is from Thanksgiving.  I didn't care that it was 63º F outside.
I was wearing a gosh darn sweater.  Even if the weather didn't cooperate.
And to add a little pizzazz - purple tights!  They were so much fun!
Plus, after all of the delicious food the dress was very forgiving ;)

Just like butter

I was totally not expecting to take any type of hiatus this past week.
This is what happens when your mother tells you she has wifi, but the only
computer that will actually connect to her wifi is her laptop.  Odd.  Very odd.
Don't worry, I won't let this happen again ;)

I hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with old & new memories.
And since it actually felt like winter today here, I thought I would share with you
a product I use to keep my hair from becoming dry and damaged during these cold months.

Redken Butter Treat is uh-mazing!
It's a conditioning treatment you use on your hair after you've shampooed.
What I like to do is shampoo my hair, then I get out of the shower and towel
dry my hair.  I work a small amount of the Butter Treat into my hair and comb it through.
I leave it on for 15 minutes, then hop back in the shower and rinse it out.

Ta-da!  Your hair will be silky smooth and hydrated!  You can thank me later :)
I only use it about once per month so it can last for a good bit.
I found mine here, but I'm sure they carry it at some grocery stores, too.
And the best part is I found a mini-version of it that was only $3 bucks.

I'm going to be posting some recipes from my Thanksgiving that I haven't shared before.
Get excited because all of them are family recipes that we enjoy year round!

Muster

Jeans - American Eagle
Top - J. Crew
Blazer - Loft
Shoes - Purchased in London a few years ago
Necklace - No clue!
Earrings - Anthropologie

I am so excited.  I'm feeling better and I took all of next week off of work.
Which means I won't have to be back at work until November 29th.
Ahhhh...sweet bliss!  Don't get me wrong, I would go crazy if I didn't work.
But a whole week off will be wonderful!  I'll sleep a lot.  Eat a lot.  Walk my dog a lot.
And the best part?  I'm in my hometown at my mother's house where waited on constantly.
Right, Mom? ;)

I received such a wonderful response to me doing a hair tutorial video!
So now I'll just be mustering up the courage to actually make the video.
Be patient.  This is going to take a lot of mustering!

P.S. - That 3rd photo of me I was actually in the midst of thinking.
That is my thinking face.  Not to be confused with my "Is that a piece of lint?" face.
Which can be seen in the 4th photo.

Punk

Dress - Francesca's
Sweater - Forever 21
Boots - Steve Madden
Tights - Nordstrom
Earrings - Anthropologie
Belt - Forever 21

Apparently, it's not my month.  I've been sick twice in the past two weeks with
two separate things wrong with me.  What is going on?  My immune system must
have it out for me.  I never get sick.  Maybe this means I'll feel fabulous all of December?

I felt very punk rock in my outfit - I mean as punk rock as a blonde with lip gloss can feel.
I've been super lazy with my hair recently due to the lack of my immune system
cooperating with me. I haven't blow dried (is that right?) my hair straight in almost a week.
Maybe tomorrow I'll feel like putting effort into my hair ;)

Also, I've gotten lots of requests for a tutorial on the hair twist I do.
Would y'all be interested in that?  I mean, me...doing a video?  This could be weird.

Recipe: Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie Bars!

Recipe via Betty Crocker®

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups Bisquick mix
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup firm butter or margarine
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup dark corn syrup {I used light corn syrup instead}
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted, cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips {I used the mini kind}
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Instructions:

Pre-heat oven to 350º F.  In a medium bowl, mix Bisquick mix and powdered sugar.
Cut in firm butter, using a pastry blender, until crumbly.
Press firmly in the bottom of a 13 x 9 inch baking dish.  Bake 15 minutes; Cool.

In a large bowl, beat eggs, corn syrup, melted butter and vanilla with spoon until smooth.
Stir in chocolate chips and pecans {I even added some Heath Bar crumbles!}.
Pour over crust.  Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown & set.
Refrigerate at least 2 hours until chocolate is firm. For bars, cut into 6 rows by 6 rows.
Enjoy!

These are the perfect treat with a big tall glass of milk!  And only 150 calories per bar!
They are super easy, too!  The perfect make ahead dessert for the holidays.
And it would be delicious nuked in a microwave with vanilla ice cream on top.
Mmmmmmm...I bet you want one right now, don't you? :)

Seventh Heaven

Dress - Purchased in London 4 years ago
Boots - Steve Madden
Tights - Target
Earrings - Anthropologie

Well, it was raining again today so no outdoor photos.
Aren't the outdoor ones more fun?  And they make my complexion look much nicer ;)
I promise once torrential downpour stops there will be outside pictures galore.

I am a huge fan of gray and this sweater dress has been a winter staple of mine for years.
It's soft and comfortable and pairs great with boots, flats or heels.
I really love the pop of color in my tights today!  I think it makes the outfit.
What do y'all think of colored tights?  Would you try them?

Week One - Review

Day 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5
{click on the numbers above to see each day}

I thought it would be fun to post a wrap-up of all of my outfits from the previous week.
So, here they are in all of their glory.

Even though it's only been one week, I am really loving this challenge!
It makes you think outside of the norm and I already have some ideas for
outfits that I would have normally never put together if it hadn't been for this.

For everyone who is doing the challenge:  Has it been easy so far?
Any outfits that you put together than you wouldn't have normally?

For those not doing the challenge:  Is this something you would think about doing?
What are the staples in your closet?

Rain Rain Go Away

Top - TJ Maxx
Sweater Dress - Nordstrom
Boots - Steve Madden
Scarf - Purchased on a trip to Italy
Tights - Target (I think?)

It was raining cats and dogs today people. Cats and dogs.
I was sleepy all day due to the excess amount of rain and the dreary skies.
Not to mention I didn't even have time to step out in the rain for a quick photo-op.
It was one crazy day.  Actually, it was pretty typical for a Monday.
I was able to make the most delicious chocolate-chip pecan pie bars tonight - yum!
Don't worry, I'll be sharing the recipe soon :)

And don't forget to become a google friend connect follower of my blog.
Once I reach 300 followers I'll be hosting a great giveaway!

High Five

Top - J. Crew
Necklace - Target maybe?
Ring - Vintage from my mom

I had more photos to show you, but picnik.com wasn't cooperating with me.
If it decides to cooperate I will definitely update this post!

On the the outfit...I really liked my choice today for casual Friday at the office.
I was comfortable, but still chic (I think...).
Notice the wedges?  Yep, they arrived yesterday!  They are super comfy!
Well, I'm off to visit the boyfriend this weekend and partake in college football festivities.
Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend! :)

1-2-3-4

Top - J. Crew
Skirt - No clue!
Shoes - Target
Belt - American Eagle (years ago)
Necklace - Waxing Poetic
Earrings - Belk

Okay, I'm not totally loving this outfit.  I think the shirt kind of washes me out,
I don't think it was terribly flattering and I found myself adjusting my skirt all day -
which means the second I got home that skirt flew off and sweatpants immediately
found their way on :)  I thoroughly enjoying the splash of green in the belt though.
And I have mad ups - aka: my jumping skills are superb for someone 5'2" ;)

Peas & Carrots

Top - American Eagle
Blazer - Ann Taylor Loft
Pants - Gap
Shoes - Target
Earrings - Stella & Dot
Necklace - Waxing Poetic

It felt wonderful outside today!  It was the perfect temperature and it was sunny,
the leaves are changing colors, the birds were chirping...okay,I didn't actually hear any
birds chirping since I was in my office all day, but in a perfect world they were.  After a
long day at work it was nice to come home and pour myself a big glass (or two) of cab.
Hectic day + crazy people + glass(es) of cabernet = happy Kelley :)

P.S. - I promise I have some crafts and holiday decor up my sleeve.  Just stay tuned!
Oh and be sure to become a google friend connect follower...Once I reach 300
followers I'm going to have one fantastic giveaway that you're not going to want to miss!

Sweet Cheeks

Cardigan - J. Crew
Dress - Anthropologie
Boots - Steve Madden
Belt - Forever 21
Earrings - Anthropologie

Do you ever have one of those days where you feel huge, your hair doesn't cooperate
and you feel like after you've put on your full face of make-up you should just
wash your face and start over from scratch? Oh, no you haven't?  Well, it's a good thing
because those days are the worst.  And today was totally one of those days.  I'm slowly
getting used to seeing myself in pictures on this ol' blog.  It's still a little weird though.

On another note, I'm growing my hair out.  I know, I know...I do this every time.
Cut it short, grow it out.  Cut it short, grow it out.  Do y'all ever do this?
But I think I realized this time that I'm a long haired gal.  That's just who I am.
At least for now ;)

P.S. - Yep, those are totally my pasty pale legs.  My gift to you friends :)
