What's a Shaker?

While I was in Kentucky this past weekend for a friend's wedding my family and I decided that
we would check out one of the sites that the parents of the bride recommended.

Honestly, when I first heard this I thought it was a huge salt and pepper shaker museum.
Uh, wrong.

So, what is a shaker?
Shakers are celibate people.  Yep, you heard that right. All together now....
"How do they procreate?"
Wait.  That wasn't the first thought that came to your mind?  Hmmm, well that was mine!

And the answer?  They didn't...they don't....which is why there are only two - yes two - left in the world!

Okay, so maybe you aren't as interested enthusiastic confused as I am...
But I do know that you will thoroughly enjoy the pictures from their village :)

This is the building that holds the restaurant.
Many of the items on the menu come from their own garden!  Let me tell you, lunch was delicious!

Don't you just love this doorway?

These next few pictures are from the upstairs of the dining area where the suites are.

Don't mind my brother in that last picture...He was just being a goofball.

Hi Mom!

This is McDuffy.  He was a sweetheart :)

This place was truly beautiful!  If you're ever in the Lexington area, I encourage you to
make the trek to Shaker Village - even if it's just to enjoy the scenery :)

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

I'll post some more photos of the landscape soon!
