Aunt Belle's Home

My great-great Aunt Belle was the woman that raised my grandmother, so needless to say we had
always been close to her and would visit her when we visited my grandparents.
Aunt Belle passed away a few years ago at the age of 98, but I'll never forget the memories i made in that home.

So, without further ado :)

I am a sucker for wrap around porches...swoon!

There's even a porch above the garage!  Perfect sun bathing or summer get-togethers!

Side of the house.  Oh man, I just love the detail on this antebellum beauty!

Oooo!  Did you see that ceiling?

:)

The home is one of the Historic Homes of Hawkinsville!

And here are a few of the inside:
(We didn't want to bother our cousin who owns the home so we just took picture outside, haha!)

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Right now, I'm in Kentucky for a close family friend's wedding and
I can't wait for the fun festivities to begin!

Small Town Charm

Are you ready to see those sweet Southern homes I told you about?
There's so many words that come to mind when I think about these homes...
But I'll just let my pictures do the talking ;)

Even though the windows are all boarded up (so sad) I just loved the white house with the turquoise door.

This one below is the old opera house.  It's now the city post office...

I hope you enjoyed a little bit of where my family roots are held down.
I really can't wait to show you one special house in particular tomorrow.
It's my Great-great Aunt Belle's home that I have adored my whole life.
The house is simply stunning!  I can't wait to show you!

We're all famous in a small town...

Like I said in my post yesterday - My grandparents live in a small town.
A very very very small town.
Although, I'm not a small town kind of gal, it is quite wonderful to get away to the
country every once in a while and enjoy the beauty of open fields and pecan orchards.

This is my grandparents front yard...

Their home sits in between a large pecan orchard and a cattle farm.  The backyard is where the farm sits.
It's so relaxing to get up in the morning and drink your morning coffee on the back porch...

Ahhh...relaxation :)
And since it was the 4th of July I thought I'd get a shot of their American flag blowing in the wind...

Until recently they didn't even have a name for the street they live on!
And it was dirt...Now they have gravel.  Big doings around those parts!

This is my bedroom at their house...

I love this pillow my grandma made!

Oh, and how could I forget to show you my treasure chest - err, cabinet!
All of the grandkids had their own "treasure chest".

And there's always a project when we visit!
This time we got to hang these Z's above the bed in my mom's room.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this little home tour!
I'll be posting pictures from around their town tomorrow!

My New Kicks!

On my road to a better body I decided it was time to get some new running shoes.
I figure if I have better shoes I'll be more likely to actually go running.
And so far, its true!  These are the bad boys I purchased:

They are the Nike Free 7.0 Running Shoes.
The shoe mimics barefoot running which is best for building stronger feet
and doesn't put the pressure on your hips and knees while you run.  Bonus!
I used to go running all the time in high school and college and it really
was the best way for me to lose weight, tone up and just stay in shape.
So, here's to hoping I can continue to stay motivated enough to keep on truckin'.

I'll be showing you pictures from my grandparents home tomorrow!
They live in a beautiful small little tiny town down in south Georgia.
So be sure to stop by tomorrow to see all the pretty pictures :)

Happy 4th of July!

I love the 4th of July!  Everything about it just fills me with pride for my beautiful country.
So, what am I up to this holiday weekend?  Well, let me tell you...

First, I am heading home to Marietta, Georgia.  My mom and I are going to zumba class tonight!
Oh, you don't know what zumba is?  Well, just check out this video:

On Saturday my mom and I will be hitting up some yard sales in the morning and then it's
off to the Braves game that afternoon! Can't wait to do the tomahawk chop! Go Bravos!

Sunday, I'm going to see my Dot Dot & Pawpaw down in South Georgia!

My grandparents were blind dates to a University of Georgia football game.
That same night my grandfather went home and told his mother that he met the woman he was going to marry...
Six weeks later they were married! And now they've been married for 58 years :)

And I'm sure we'll see some of these...

I hope each of you has a wonderful weekend full of family, friends & fun memories :)

Collages!

I just had to share the tools I've been fiddling around with on Picnik!
Remember when I posted about all the cool things you can do there?
Well, now you can make collages!  I put this one together of the boyfriend and me at some Alabama games...

And I made this one of sweet little Maddie...

And here is another I made that could be used as a blog header (cool, huh?!)...

I could spend hours days messing around with all the cool gadgets they have!
I don't have everything on there figured out yet, but its fun playing with everything on there!
So, go make a collage!  And if you make one I'd love if you would share it!  :)

These are a few of my favorite things...

These are just a few things I am loving right now...

1.  This beautiful nautical necklace from Olivia Clare

2. This birdcage veil with detachable flower comb by Velvet Owl

3. These funky heels from ModCloth

4. This customizable wood handle rubber stamp from Note Trunk

5. This geography dish towel from C.S. Post & Co.

I hope everyone is having a great week and has wonderful 4th of July plans!
I'll be sharing my weekend plans with you all tomorrow!  :)
