Without further ado...

My 30 for 30 picks!

{to read more about the challenge go here}

I am so excited for this challenge!  I feel much more prepared than the first time and
can't wait to remix the poop out of these items.  That's right - I said poop.  I also can't
wait to see everyone elses remixes!  Are you participating?  Let me know! :)

Montgomery: Part 1

Remember when I told you I was headed to Montgomery for the Inaugural Ball?
Well, there was actually a lot that went on other than the ball.
Here's a little snippet of a few of the memories I made that weekend...

This is the dress I wore to the First Lady's Luncheon.
I can't believe I didn't get any photos of me wearing it!
I will tell you that I paired it with a navy cardigan, nude heels & a rust colored necklace.

We attended a reception held at the Governor's Mansion that evening.
The funny part?  We went through a line of over 300 people to take our picture with
Governor Bentley...even though my boyfriend is on his staff and we could have just
taken a picture any day of the week :)  The Bentley's thought it was pretty funny.

It was such an exciting trip and there was so much to take in!
I'll be posting photos from the inauguration, capital and a beautiful local church next!

Slacker

I have been so out of this week.  Do y'all ever get this way?
Several things have been weighing heavy on my mind.  I'm hoping that seeing
the boyfriend this weekend will snap me back into mental shape.  If you could
just send a little prayer up to the big man for me I would be extremely grateful :)

I have a huge long list of to-do's that I can hopefully get accomplished in the next
week or so.  Lots of fun blog posts to plan - including a few video tutorials!  Eeek!
Another bonus?  I'm participating in another one of Kendi's 30 for 30 challenges!
I have clothes sitting in my living room waiting to be decided on.  I know one pair
of heels that's probably chomping at the bit to find out if they've made the cut.

Oh, and did you notice...I just reached 300 followers!
Hmmmm...It might be time to start thinking about another giveaway ;)
Have a lovely weekend!

Free printable just for you

Back in the day (okay, so it was really only March 2010) when I first started my blog
I shared a piece of art I made for above my desk.  Well, I decided to make a free
printable for you all based off of that piece of art!  So, from me to you...

And here's a pretty one with cursive font for good measure...

How is your week going so far?  Anything exciting going on this week?
It's only Tuesday and I'm already ready for the weekend.  But that's mostly because I'm
headed on a little road trip this weekend with a good friend. Although we're just headed
to my hometown, It's always more fun traveling with a friend.  Don't you think so?

I hope your week is off to a great start :)

Eenie-Meenie-Miney-Mo!

One of my dearest friends enlisted my help on making a few blog headers for her sister,
the pastry chef.  I jumped at the chance to help!  I love any chance to get creative!

So I wanted to share a few of them with you all...

Samantha is working on revamping her blog and I can't wait to see what's ahead!
Check out Samantha's blog, the creations she's made & to see which blog header she chose!

Recipe: Double Cheese & Bacon Egg Biscuit

The second I saw this recipe from Picky Palate I knew I wanted to try it out!
It's the perfect breakfast recipe to have on hand during the week for those
of us who like to grab our breakfast and go in the morning.  Like yours truly ;)

It is such an easy recipe and it's absolutely delicious to boot!

Get the recipe for these Double Cheese & Bacon Egg Biscuits over at Picky Palate!
I will be enjoying mine every morning this week!  Bon appetit!
*Note: I doubled my recipe and reduced the amount of salt.  I also used turkey bacon.

My apologies

Well, that was an unexpected mini hiatus!
After  the getting back from the inauguration & all of the festivities it was a whirlwind
getting back into the groove of work.  Not to mention I was exhausted! Not to worry
though, I'm back and better than ever.  Regular posting will resume tomorrow :)

Fly me to the moon

Well, I'm not flying.  And I'm definitely not going to the moon.
But I am over the moon excited about the next few days!

I'm headed down to our state capital (Montgomery) to attend the Governor's
Inaugural Ball!  I have my dress, my shoes, my make-up and I'm going to pretend
that I live this fancy life all the time.  Okay?  No, not okay?  Okay, well then I'll
just pretend I live this life until the stroke of midnight on Monday night.
Like Cinderella.

Have a happy weekend! :)

Denim Dan

{Pants: Gap; Shirt: mommed; Cardigan: J. Crew; Shoes: Target; Pearls: mommed; Other necklace: F21}

While going through my blog roll last night I saw this outfit from KateIt completely
inspired my outfit for today.  When I started getting ready this morning it felt like
there was something missing from my outfit.  And then it hit me.  It was a total red
lipstick day.  Bada-bing bada-boom.  I felt like part Marilyn Monroe, part Audrey Hepburn.
It was fantastic.  And the outfit was comfortable.  And I felt great.  Amen.

Oh, and did you notice Maddie sneaking in the first two pictures?  She was given a
treat (It was a piece of ice.  She is really easy to please) and apparently she wanted
some camera time as well.  As you can obviously see in this photo...

Or maybe she just wanted more ice treats.

Wedding Table Inspiration

With my dear friend Katherine's wedding approaching (less than 2 months away) I thought
I would share some table decor inspiration with you all to get into total bridesmaid mode!

Aren't those tables beautiful?  And I love that so many weddings are more DIY these days.
Can't wait to see the table decor for Katherine's Savannah, Georgia wedding!

30 for 30 Challenge: My thoughts

I really loved Kendi's 30 for 30 Challenge.  It opened up so many style doors for me
that I never would have tried had it not been for this challenge.  I loved mixing only
the 30 items I had chosen.  It made me think less about what I was going to wear that
day and it made me have a different approach to items I would purchase.

After the challenge was over I started making smarter decisions about purchasing items.
Do I really need that sweater?  How many ways can this dress be remixed?
Can I wear this blouse throughout the year - not just in one season?

This remix also helped me see what looks best on my body and what clothes
make me feel good as well.  I definitely noticed that on the days I wore an
outfit and really got ready I felt so much better about myself.  So confident.
And introducing my lips to a pretty red lipstick made me feel fancy, too :)
